West Bonner School Board Trustee Nash Plans to Resign After Home Sale

A seat on the West Bonner County School District board will soon become vacant as trustee Kathy Nash announced plans to step down once she sells her home and relocates outside the district.

Nash brought the news to fellow board members at the June 17 meeting, saying she wanted to give advance notice rather than leave them caught off guard. Her formal resignation letter will follow once her home receives an offer with a projected closing date.

“I just wanted to let everybody know so it wasn’t a surprise,” Nash said at the meeting.

Nash described the timing as similar to the standard notice period a person gives when leaving a job, indicating she hopes to make the transition as orderly as possible for the board.

Board Chair Ann Yount thanked Nash for her service, saying she valued Nash’s contributions and perspective during her time as a trustee. Fellow trustee Robert Bauer, who represents Zone 5, was also present at the meeting.

Nash’s departure will require the district to fill her board seat, either through appointment or election, depending on the timing of the vacancy. The school district has faced a number of challenges in recent months, including overdue audits that have blocked the release of state funding.

No replacement timeline has been announced. The board is expected to address the vacancy process once Nash formally submits her resignation letter.
