The West Bonner County School District is revising its five-year strategic plan to better prepare students for college and careers upon graduation.
RLR Leadership Consulting, the firm partnering with the district on the update, provided a progress report to board trustees during their September 16 meeting. The current strategic framework covers the period from 2023 through 2028 and is structured around six primary pillars: teaching, culture, communication, technology, transportation, and facilities.
District officials are conducting community outreach to gather resident feedback before finalizing changes. Initial meetings took place in mid-September, with additional visits scheduled for October, November, and December. The district is utilizing one-on-one meetings, focus groups, and public input sessions to collect data from the community.
Randy Russell of RLR Leadership Consulting told trustees that residents have been candid about their views on district operations. He noted that while not every decision meets with universal approval, the community remains committed to student success.
“The passion is definitely there to support the kids and for this school district to be successful,” Russell said.
The district evaluates its progress annually to realign steps as needed. A draft of the updated strategic plan is expected to be presented to West Bonner officials in January.
