Twenty-five volunteers from Maranatha Volunteers International, working alongside members of the Sandpoint Seventh-day Adventist Church and local residents, completed substantial renovations at Sandpoint Junior Academy during a two-week project in June.
The renovation effort ran from June 6 through June 18, 2026, addressing critical facility needs at the school. The scope of work included a complete gutting and remodeling of the girls’ bathroom, replacement of windows throughout the building, removal and repair of a structural wall, interior and exterior painting, and numerous smaller repairs.
Community Partnership and Support
Jon Yarlott, project director for Maranatha Volunteers International, praised the collaborative nature of the effort. “It was great to have everyone working together – volunteers from across the country alongside church members and Sandpoint neighbors,” Yarlott said.
Prock’s Paint Bucket, a local business, provided paint and supplies at a substantial discount to support the project, reducing costs and enabling the volunteers to complete more work with their available resources.
Maranatha Volunteers International, founded in 1969, has mobilized nearly 70,000 volunteers over its history to assist with construction and renovation projects at educational and charitable institutions. The organization brings together volunteers from across the country to serve communities in need of facility improvements.
