Siver slated for prelim hearing

Boundary County Man Faces Preliminary Hearing on Aggravated Assault Charges After Allegedly Firing at Deputies

HOPE, Idaho — A Boundary County man accused of shooting at law enforcement officers during a domestic violence call and then leading authorities on a cross-county manhunt is scheduled to appear in court Friday, May 29, for a preliminary hearing on two felony aggravated assault charges.

Samuel Siver, 50, faces two counts of aggravated assault — or battery — upon certain personnel, stemming from a May 20 incident in which he allegedly opened fire on two Boundary County Sheriff’s deputies responding to a domestic violence call before fleeing the scene. Siver is currently held at the Boundary County Jail on a $100,000 bond.

Manhunt Crossed Into Bonner County

After the alleged shooting, Siver left the area, prompting a manhunt that extended across county lines. Authorities located his vehicle in the Samuels area before tracking him into Bonner County, where personnel ultimately took him into custody near Hope. No law enforcement officers were reported injured during either the initial response or the subsequent pursuit.

Court documents indicate that Siver was aware the individuals he allegedly targeted were law enforcement officers and proceeded with what charging papers described as life-threatening actions despite that knowledge. The two aggravated assault charges correspond directly to the alleged shots fired toward the two Boundary County Sheriff’s personnel.

Preliminary Hearing to Determine Evidence Threshold

Friday’s preliminary hearing will determine whether sufficient evidence exists to formally bind Siver over on the felony charges. If the court finds probable cause, the case would advance toward trial proceedings.

The arrest in Hope placed Bonner County personnel at the center of the apprehension, illustrating the kind of multi-agency coordination that cross-county incidents frequently demand. The Bonner County court system has handled complex criminal matters before, including cases involving serious charges that required extensive jurisdictional coordination.

Siver’s case will be one to watch in the coming days as the court evaluates the evidence presented at the May 29 hearing. Additional proceedings would follow if the judge determines the charges are supported by probable cause.

What Comes Next

Samuel Siver is scheduled to appear in Boundary County court on Friday, May 29, for the preliminary hearing on both felony aggravated assault counts. If bound over, the case would move toward arraignment and potential trial. Siver remains in custody at the Boundary County Jail pending that hearing.
