The Sandpoint City Council unanimously confirmed five nominees to the reestablished Parking Committee on Sept. 16, 2026. Mayor Jeremy Grimm selected the individuals for staggered terms expiring in 2027, 2028, and 2029.
The advisory body was announced on Sept. 1 as a short-term group tasked with reviewing parking data, considering stakeholder experiences, and providing recommendations to city leadership. The committee’s reinstatement follows significant community opposition to the city’s paid parking program, particularly regarding kiosks in the downtown two-hour zone. In August, the council voted to remove those kiosks.
New Members Bring Diverse Backgrounds
The confirmed members include Brynn Williams-Woodruff and Scott Wilburn, who serve one-year terms ending Aug. 31, 2027. Erin Riseborough and Luke Omodt hold two-year terms expiring Aug. 31, 2028. Bob Clark was appointed to a three-year term ending Aug. 31, 2029.
Omodt brings experience from his former roles as a Bonner County commissioner and member of the Sandpoint Planning and Zoning Commission. Clark has served on the Bonner County zoning commission and the Natural Resource Committee. Wilburn has participated in numerous committees and business organizations.
Grimm stated that each nominee brings unique qualities and expertise valuable to the committee’s work. Williams-Woodruff noted she had watched public discussions on parking with concern and occasional amusement, adding she believes she can provide a rational viewpoint on the topic.
Meeting Schedule and Public Input
Committee meetings will occur every other week on Fridays starting Sept. 25 at 7:30 a.m. in Council Chambers at 1123 Lake St. Sessions are expected to last one to one-and-a-half hours, including 10 minutes allocated for public comment.
The committee is charged with considering the perspectives of residents, businesses, employees, and visitors as it evaluates parking policies. The group’s recommendations will inform future decisions by the mayor and City Council regarding downtown parking management.
Sandpoint officials previously sought volunteers for the panel before finalizing these appointments. The confirmation vote ensures the committee can begin its work immediately, addressing ongoing concerns about parking availability and enforcement in the city center.
