Sandpoint Area Seniors, Inc. (SASi) has earned the Panhandle Health District Award of Excellence for the third consecutive year, recognizing the nonprofit’s compliance with 56 food safety and operational standards.
The award reflects the organization’s commitment to maintaining rigorous kitchen protocols while serving Bonner County seniors. Under the leadership of Head Chef Brenda Curtis, SASi delivers approximately 1,600 meals monthly to seniors’ homes throughout the county, extending service to Oldtown. Additionally, the organization serves an average of 560 meals per month at the Sandpoint Senior Center, where meals and community activities remain free to participants.
SASi has operated for more than 50 years, providing both nutrition and social engagement to the region’s older residents.
Upcoming Fundraiser
The organization is hosting SASi Uncorked, a wine-tasting fundraiser, on Saturday, Aug. 15, from 3 to 5 p.m. at 820 Main Street in Sandpoint. The event features five wines, including a dessert wine finale, paired with an upscale grazing table of meats and cheeses.
