Sandpoint’s annual Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association event delivered another standout weekend, with a Canadian cowboy defending his title and a Texas bareback rider hauling in his biggest payday of the season.
Roberts and Lammers Lead the Way
Tyrel Roberts, a 25-year-old from Charlie Lake, British Columbia, claimed his second consecutive saddle bronc riding title at the Sandpoint Rodeo, posting an 85.5-point ride aboard C5 Rodeo’s Vanity Smurf to earn $2,648. Back-to-back wins at the same rodeo are a mark of consistency on the circuit, and Roberts delivered when it counted in North Idaho once again.
Bareback riding went to Bodee Lammers, 29, of Tolar, Texas, who scored 81.5 points on C5 Rodeo’s Financed to collect $2,420 — his largest single-event payout of the 2026 campaign. Clay Stone of Blackfoot came in second with an 81-point ride, giving Idaho a presence on the podium in the event.
Steer Wrestling, Roping, and Barrel Racing Results
Steer wrestling saw Hayden Maley, 28, of Roseburg, Oregon — a newcomer to PRCA competition — take the top spot with a time of 6.6 seconds, earning $1,308. Chance Gartner of Touchet, Washington finished just behind at 6.7 seconds, a margin of only one-tenth of a second separating the two competitors.
Team roping honors went to the pairing of Lexis Andrade, 27, from Naalehu, Hawaii, and Martin Rucker, 34, from Benton City, Washington. The duo finished their run in 5.6 seconds and took home $1,472, marking their second-largest payout of the 2026 season.
Michael Pederson, 32, of Hermiston, Oregon, won tie-down roping with an 8.9-second run, good for $1,697. Pederson’s personal-best time this year is 8.4 seconds, set at the Toppenish Rodeo, so while Sandpoint wasn’t his fastest showing, it was a profitable one.
Barrel racing was decided by the narrowest of margins. Kaycie Kayser, 40, of Ellensburg, Washington, posted a time of 17.54 seconds to edge out Lindsey Ham, who ran a 17.61. Just 0.07 seconds stood between first and second place in one of the event’s most competitive showdowns of the weekend.
Bull riding produced no qualified rides across six attempts, meaning no prize money was awarded in that event.
Jason Minor took home the all-around cowboy award for the weekend.
Sandpoint Rodeo on the Columbia River Circuit
The Sandpoint Rodeo joined the PRCA in 2015 and operates as part of the Columbia River Circuit, which continues competition through September. Cowboys and cowgirls accumulating points across circuit events will compete for top honors at the Boot Barn Columbia River Circuit Championship, scheduled for November 5–7 in Redmond, Oregon.
The event remains one of the signature summer attractions in Bonner County, drawing competitors from across the Pacific Northwest, the Mountain West, and beyond. This year’s roster illustrated that reach — participants arrived from British Columbia, Texas, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington to compete under the North Idaho sky.
For North Idaho sports fans following local and regional athletic competition, the rodeo results round out a busy summer of events across the area.
