Lake Pend Oreille School District Assistant Superintendent Casey McLaughlin reported progress on district goals during the school board’s Oct. 13 meeting.
Students’ ability to identify a trusted adult increased from 93.54% to 99.38%, a gain of 6 percentage points. Building that connection was a district priority during the last school year.
Attendance also improved. LPOSD’s chronic absenteeism rate fell from 3.4% to 2.1%, giving the district the third-lowest rate in Idaho.
“There’s some exciting numbers,” McLaughlin said during the meeting, adding that the results were “pretty incredible.”
Dr. Becky Meyer said trusted adults can help students raise concerns, including when they see a troubling text. The district identified both trusted-adult connections and attendance as priorities during the last school year.
