Idaho Secretary of State Mails Voter Pamphlets Ahead of Election

Idaho election officials have begun distributing hundreds of thousands of informational pamphlets to households across the state, marking the start of voter outreach for the 2026 general election.

The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office confirmed that the official voter pamphlet is arriving at mailboxes. The publication serves as a primary resource for residents preparing for the November vote, providing details on ballot measures, key election dates, voting methods, and registration requirements.

“Election season is underway,” Secretary of State Phil McGrane said. “Every household in Idaho can expect to receive a Voter Pamphlet with the information you need to be ready to vote in November.”

Ballot Measures Included

The pamphlet outlines several significant questions appearing on the ballot this year. Proposition 1 seeks to repeal the state’s current abortion restrictions and establish new reproductive rights protections.

Voters will also consider a proposed constitutional amendment that would reserve the power to legalize drugs, such as marijuana, exclusively for the Idaho Legislature. Another constitutional amendment proposes designating English as the official language of the state. Additionally, an advisory question asks voters whether the state should declare an official state gun.

Pamphlet Format Remains Unchanged

The current voter pamphlet does not include information about candidates running for office. Secretary of State Phil McGrane previously proposed legislation in 2023 and 2024 to replace the existing pamphlet with a comprehensive voter guide that would feature candidate details. The Idaho Legislature did not approve those proposals.

A 2024 Boise State University poll indicated that 78 percent of Idahoans favored the implementation of a state-issued voter guide. Despite public support for the change, the traditional pamphlet format remains in use for the 2026 election cycle.

Digital Resources Available

Residents who prefer digital access or require alternative formats can visit VoteIdaho.gov. The site allows users to view the pamphlet online, access Spanish-language versions, and listen to an audio format. Voters can also preview their specific ballot layout through the website’s interactive tools.

This edition of the voter materials is part of the “America 250” initiative, celebrating 250 years of American history. Election officials encourage all registered voters to review the pamphlet and verify their registration status before heading to the polls in November.
