Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho has completed its acquisition of Mountain West Farm Bureau Insurance Company, marking the end of a regulatory review process that cleared the path for the merger. As first reported by bonnercountydailybee.com, the transaction brings together two major regional insurers to form a larger, more financially robust organization serving members across five states.
The combined entity now holds assets exceeding $1.2 billion and generates more than $800 million in annualized premiums. Together, the affiliated companies serve over 130,000 members throughout Idaho, Washington, Montana, Wyoming, and Colorado. The merger leverages more than 155 years of combined industry experience to strengthen operational capabilities and financial stability for policyholders.
Despite the consolidation at the corporate level, the local service model remains intact. Policyholders will continue working with their existing local agents, ensuring that community ties are preserved even as the back-end operations merge. In Wyoming, Montana, and Colorado, Mountain West will continue operating under its established brands, utilizing approximately 100 local agents to serve clients in those markets.
“This is a defining moment for our organizations and the people we serve,” told the Bonner County Daily Bee Todd Argall regarding the completion of the deal.
The acquisition integrates several affiliated entities into the Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho structure. These include 360 Insurance Company and Mountain West Captive Re Company from the Mountain West side, joining Western Community Insurance Company, Farm Insurance Brokerage Company, and Farm Bureau Finance Company on the Idaho side.
Farm Bureau Insurance Company of Idaho was founded in 1947. The merger aims to enhance the financial strength of the organization while maintaining the localized approach that has defined its operations for decades.
“Insurance is ultimately about being there when policyholders need us most,” told the Bonner County Daily Bee Matt Dorsey, emphasizing the continuity of service despite the corporate restructuring.
