Bonner County Task Force Sets Panel on Religion in Government

The Bonner County Human Rights Task Force is convening a public discussion this Saturday to examine the intersection of Christian nationalism and political policy in Idaho.

The panel, scheduled from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., centers on the question of whether state governance should reflect a Biblical worldview. The event will be held at First Presbyterian Church, located at 417 N. Fourth Ave. in Sandpoint.

Brian Seguin will address legal and historical arguments regarding the separation of church and state. Sarah Bader is set to discuss the implications of religious perspectives influencing state and national legislation. Kate Bitz will focus on local activism and how such laws affect public school curriculums in the region.

Following the presentations, speakers will field questions submitted by attendees via index cards. Participants also have the opportunity to engage with the panelists one-on-one at booths set up in the Fellowship Hall during a refreshment break.
