Sunday August 9 Highlights
Bonner County’s cultural calendar remains active this weekend, with multiple events drawing residents across the region. The POAC Arts & Crafts Fair takes center stage Sunday morning, running from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Second and Main in downtown Sandpoint. The fair showcases work across multiple disciplines, including sculpture, ceramics, photography, fiber arts, paintings, and mixed media pieces from local and regional artisans.
The Ponderay Sunday Market operates simultaneously from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 401 Bonner Mall Way, offering another venue for local vendors and craftspeople to reach area shoppers.
Evening entertainment centers on War Memorial Field at 801 Ontario Street in Sandpoint. “How to Train Your Dragon 2” will be presented in concert format, with gates opening at 5 p.m. and the performance beginning at 7 p.m. A separate Cheers! beer and wine tasting event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. at the same location, with its own ticket required for entry.
Faith-based and recovery programming rounds out Sunday’s offerings. Cookies, Coffee and Jesus Bible study meets from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Faith Evangelical Free Church, located at 2624 N. Boyer. A weekly service and discussion runs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at 100A Church Street.
Multiple Alcoholics Anonymous meetings are scheduled throughout the day. The Dry River Rats group meets at 8:45 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Priest River. The Sunday Morning Group convenes at 10:30 a.m. at Sandpoint Senior Center, 820 W. Main. Evening meetings include Close Encounters at 7 p.m. at Hospitality House in Newport, Living Sober at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian in Sandpoint, and Big Book Study at 7:30 p.m. at the Extension Office in Bonners Ferry. A Narcotics Anonymous meeting is held at 6 p.m. at Tamarack Treatment, 710 Superior Street, Suite D. Overeaters Anonymous gathers from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Empowerment Center, 1009 U.S. 2, Sandpoint.
Monday August 10 Activities
Monday brings an assortment of community gatherings, recovery meetings, recreational activities, and civic events across Bonner County. Music enthusiasts have multiple options: a bluegrass open jam at 5 p.m. at Connie’s Cafe, 323 Cedar Street, and a Monday Night Blues Jam at 7 p.m. at Eichardt’s Pub, 212 Cedar. Trivia with Toshi takes place at 7 p.m. at Connie’s Cafe, with a $5 entry fee per person.
Community services and meals are available Monday as well. The Idaho Department of Labor operates mobile services from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Resource EnVision Center, 130 McGhee Road, Suite 220. Sandpoint Senior Center serves lunch at 11:30 a.m. at 820 Main Street, featuring a salad bar. A community meal is offered from 4 to 6 p.m. at Sandpoint Assembly of God Church, 423 N. Lincoln Street, and a community soup kitchen operates from 4 to 7 p.m. at Hoot Owl Cafe.
Youth and recreation programming includes the Sandpoint Teen Center, open from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 526 S. Olive Avenue. A fitness class meets at 5:30 p.m. at Hope Community Center. The Sandpoint Jr. Rifle Club holds a meeting at 6 p.m. at Leo Hadley Range, 1114 Lake Street, open to ages 11 and above.
The Monday Sewing Group meets from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Bonner County Extension Office, 4205 N. Boyer. The Pend Oreille Chorale holds rehearsal from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church fellowship hall. The Kiwanis Club luncheon takes place from 12 to 1 p.m. at Marigold Cafe, 414 Church Street.
