Sunday, August 2: Outdoor Concert and Spiritual Gatherings
Sandpoint residents and visitors will have multiple options for Sunday activities, anchored by an evening concert and morning faith-based gatherings throughout the county.
Joseph, accompanied by touring musicians Sydney Dale and Hannah Meeham, will perform at War Memorial Field, 801 Ontario St., with gates opening at 6 p.m. and the concert beginning at 7 p.m. The outdoor venue offers a seasonal evening entertainment option as summer progresses into early August.
Morning activities include a Bible study session at Faith Evangelical Free Church, 2624 N. Boyer, running from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., titled “Cookies, Coffee and Jesus.” A weekly service and discussion will be held at 100A Church Street from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Recovery support meetings are scheduled throughout the day. Alcoholics Anonymous gatherings will take place at multiple locations: 8:45 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Priest River, 10:30 a.m. at Sandpoint Senior Center, and evening sessions at 7 p.m. at Hospitality House in Newport and First Presbyterian Church in Sandpoint, plus a 7:30 p.m. session at the Extension Office in Bonners Ferry. Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 6 p.m. at Tamarack Treatment, 710 Superior St., Suite D, and Overeaters Anonymous will convene from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Empowerment Center, 1009 U.S. 2, Sandpoint.
Monday, August 3: Jam Sessions and Community Services
Monday brings musical gatherings, civic meetings, and a range of community support services to Bonner County communities.
Two bluegrass and blues jam sessions will occur in Sandpoint: an Irish open bluegrass jam at 5 p.m. at Connie’s Cafe, 323 Cedar St., and a Monday Night Blues Jam hosted by John Firshi at 7 p.m. at Eichardt’s Pub, 212 Cedar. Both events offer informal settings for musicians and listeners.
The Monday Sewing Group will meet from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Bonner County Extension Office, 4205 N. Boyer. The Idaho Department of Labor will operate mobile services from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Community Resource EnVision Center, 130 McGhee Road, Suite 220, providing employment assistance to local residents.
Youth and senior programming includes the Sandpoint Teen Center operating from 2:30 to 5 p.m. at First Lutheran Church, 526 S. Olive Ave., and the Sandpoint Senior Center serving lunch at 11:30 a.m. at 820 Main St. A fitness class will run at 5:30 p.m. at the Hope Community Center.
Community meal services will be available at the Sandpoint Assembly of God Church from 4 to 6 p.m., and the Hoot Owl Cafe will operate its community soup kitchen from 4 to 7 p.m., providing free or low-cost dining options for residents in need.
The Pend Oreille Chorale will hold rehearsal from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Seventh-day Adventist Church fellowship hall, welcoming singers interested in the local chorus. The Sandpoint Jr. Rifle Club will meet at 6 p.m. at Leo Hadley Range, 1114 Lake St., open to youth ages 11 and above.
Multiple support group meetings will occur throughout Monday. The Kiwanis Club luncheon meeting runs from noon to 1 p.m. at the Marigold Cafe, 414 Church St. Life Choices Pregnancy Center will be open from noon to 4 p.m. at 502 N. Second Ave. Al-Anon Happy Solutions will meet at 6 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 417 N. Fourth Ave., while Stepping Into Freedom, a 12-step program, convenes at 6 p.m. at Sandpoint Assembly of God Church. The Survivors of Suicide Support Group will gather from 7 to 8 p.m. at 608 S. Division Ave., and Narcotics Anonymous will meet at 6 p.m. at Sandpoint Church of God, 221 S. Division.
The Ponderay City Council will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m. at Ponderay City Hall, 288 Fourth St., with public attendance welcome. The Lakeside Masonic Lodge No. 42 AF will also meet on Monday evening.
