Roos commits to North Idaho College

Sandpoint’s Logan Roos Commits to Play Basketball at North Idaho College

Sandpoint Standout Heads to NIC After Decorated High School Career

Sandpoint, Idaho — Logan Roos, a standout basketball player from Sandpoint High School, has committed to continue his athletic and academic career at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, adding a highly productive North Idaho talent to the Cardinals’ NJCAA Division I program.

The 6-foot-8-inch wing-guard combo earned All-Inland Empire League honors in both his junior and senior seasons, capping a four-year high school career that drew the attention of college recruiters. Roos’s senior-season statistics were among the most impressive in the region: he averaged 15.6 points, 9.7 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 2.1 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game — a well-rounded stat line that reflects his versatility on both ends of the floor.

His combination of size, athleticism, and defensive instincts at the wing-guard position makes him an uncommon prospect at the junior college level, where most players of his frame project as traditional forwards or centers. That positional versatility is expected to be a key asset as he develops under NIC’s coaching staff.

Coach Praises Roos as a Leader On and Off the Court

Sandpoint High head boys basketball coach Will Love, who served as a first-year head coach this past season, expressed strong confidence in Roos’s trajectory at the next level.

“Logan has so much potential — and you could see that potential grow over his last four years at Sandpoint High as he got more confident and felt more comfortable with his skill set,” Love said. “The thing I appreciated with Logan is the leadership he brought off the court. He did a lot of things that good leaders do, and that was very helpful for me as a first-year coach.”

Love added that Roos’s physical tools set him apart from most players at his level. “Logan has the skills and the height to be a pretty remarkable player. I’m excited he’ll get to go to a program like NIC, where he’s going to develop. I imagine seeing him playing for a four-year college soon enough.”

That four-year college projection reflects broader optimism within the Sandpoint program about Roos’s upside. At 6-foot-8 with legitimate guard skills, the ability to shoot, defend multiple positions, and rebound at a high rate are attributes that draw attention from four-year programs scouting the junior college ranks.

NIC Cardinals Look to Build North Idaho Pipeline

North Idaho College competes in the Scenic West Athletic Conference and finished the 2025-2026 season with a 16-15 record. The Cardinals fielded only two other players from North Idaho on their roster last season, making Roos a notable regional addition to a program that draws from across the western United States.

NIC has historically served as a development pipeline for Idaho athletes seeking a path to four-year programs, providing competitive NJCAA Division I basketball while keeping players close to home and family support networks. For communities like Sandpoint, having a hometown player land at a well-regarded North Idaho institution represents a point of local pride.

Roos was joined at his signing by his family — mother Erin Roos and father Mike Roos — as well as Sandpoint High assistant boys basketball coach and Associate Administrator Chris Taylor, head coach Will Love, and Athletic Director TJ Clary.

His commitment comes on the heels of other notable achievements from Sandpoint’s student-athlete community. Earlier this spring, Sandpoint Future High School Boys claimed a championship at the Spokane Kick Off Tournament, and a North Idaho College student earned third place at a state entrepreneur competition — a reminder of the well-rounded talent emerging from the North Idaho Panhandle.

What Comes Next

Logan Roos is expected to join the NIC Cardinals for the upcoming 2026-2027 season. With a full year of development at the NJCAA Division I level, his coaches and supporters anticipate he will be in the conversation for four-year college opportunities as early as next spring. Bonner County News will continue to follow his progress at NIC.
