North Idaho’s annual Sandpoint PRCA Rodeo is set to return to the Bonner County Fairgrounds this weekend, with two nights of professional rodeo action scheduled for Friday and Saturday, August 7-8.
Gates open at 6:30 p.m. both evenings, with competition getting underway at 7:30 p.m. The lineup of events covers the full range of PRCA rodeo disciplines, including bull riding, barrel racing, bareback riding, roping events, and steer wrestling.
Friday Night Extras for Families and Fans
Friday’s performance includes a few added attractions beyond the main rodeo card. A stick horse race open to children ages 3 through 8 will be held, with a $5 entry fee that covers the cost of the stick horse. The winner takes home a buckle. Registration for the stick horse race was held at the fair office August 3-6, so participants should confirm enrollment ahead of Friday’s event.
After the Friday night rodeo wraps up, Trevor Chambers and the Southpaw Band, a country music group out of Coeur d’Alene, will take the stage for a free afterparty. No rodeo ticket is required to attend the afterparty, making it an accessible option for fans who want to cap off the evening with live music.
